Asian Portrait Project Event
I'm pleased to share in collaboration with Yusuf Zakir, the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at Davis Wright Tremaine, Pani Cooler members can attend the Asian Portrait Project event with Ajay Mehrotra on the Asian Portrait Project, moderated by DWT Partner and Energy Practice Group Chair Vid Prabhakaran.
Ajay Mehrotra is the Executive Director of the American Bar Foundation (ABF) and an accomplished professor and author. He is a Research Professor at the ABF, a Professor of Law at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, and an Affiliated Professor of History at Northwestern University.
A Portrait of Asian Americans in the Law (the Asian Portrait Project), published in 2017 by Yale Law School and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, is a systematic analysis of how Asian Americans are situated in the legal profession. The full report can be found here. Professor Mehrotra is developing phase 2.0 of the Asian Portrait Project study which will include a deeper exploration of the empirical reasons and potential solutions for the current challenges faced by the Asian American legal community.
We have tremendous legal talent among the students in this community. I've advocated elsewhere for law students to take control of their career by building a brand early by publishing and building an audience.
If you are a law student interested in sharing your insights and boost your profile with a thousand South Asian lawyers, you can have your insights published in Pani Cooler. You can apply here.
